Law firm expands property side

Prior to the end of last year firms had no choice – they were required to charge a set fee, based on the value of the property, as required by a 1939 ruling.

But in December the Jersey Law Society voted unanimously to end this practice as anti-competitive.

However, the effect on property buyers is still unclear, says Crill Canavan, which now has 12 staff in the department dealing with both residential and commercial transactions.
