Education want to demolish the ‘cardboard city’ elements of the old parish school and replace them with a new single-storey building.
The new St Peter’s School will incorporate the original granite building and retain the current car parking.
It will include a 30-place nursery, school hall, reception class and single-form entry classrooms for Years 1 to 6.
Head teacher Steve Dewhurst said that they were all ‘massively excited’ that work towards getting the new school built had begun.
