That is the view of the chairman of the Environment Scrutiny panel, Deputy Rob Duhamel , who says that the Island should adopt a zero waste strategy.
The Deputy said that if the Island could recycle far more than the 32 per cent of rubbish proposed in the solid waste management strategy, a much smaller incinerator than proposed would be needed.
‘That would lead to major environmental and cost benefits for the Island,’ said Deputy Duhamel.
