A post-mortem found that Thomas Gibb, who was born in Bellshill in Scotland, died of head injuries on Tuesday 7 March.

Mr Gibb, who lived on Mont Les Vaux, St Brelade, fell 29 feet through the asbestos roof at the builder’s merchants in Commercial Buildings on to a concrete floor.

Initial toxicology tests showed that he had drunk enough alcohol to make him more than three times the legal drink-drive limit on the night of his death.

Police inquiries are continuing.

The Deputy Viscount, Peter de Gruchy, gave his permission for Mr Gibb’s body to be released to his family so that it could be repatriated to his native Scotland.
