The ACCA has been in contact with its counterparts in Italy for some years, but it was felt that Jersey would be the right place for a meeting focusing on trusts.
The meeting was chaired by the ACCA’s Jonathan Beckerlegge, who explained that the Italian accountants had been very interested to learn about the advantages that Jersey trusts can offer.
Mr Beckerlegge, who is a past president of the ACCA and a current member of the Auditing Practices Board, said that in his view it was vital for the industry in Italy to be informed about trusts for effective tax planning.
