Senator Cohen believed that WEB were trying to undermine the consultation process on tall buildings and were also putting him under pressure to back David Crossland’s scheme which includes a Center Parcs complex.
The Senator was fuming when WEB and Dandara gave the JEP exclusive access to new images showing a 20-storey tower on the Castle Quay site on the eve of the waterfront forum.
It prompted him to complain to his Ministerial colleagues in the strongest terms about WEB and he called into question their ability to do their job.
It was the Senator’s complaints which led to the hastily prepared Memorandum of Agreement signed by Chief Minister Frank Walker and WEB which effectively gags the Board – an extraordinary development given that they have been hitherto free to speak to the media.
