From 1 May, people will have to demonstrate knowledge of the English language as well as life in the UK and the Island as part of their citizenship application.

The test will consist of 25 questions, a quarter of which will be about Jersey.

The questions about the Island have been compiled by Jersey Heritage Trust’s head of community learning, Doug Ford .

The move will bring Jersey into line with the UK, where the requirement has been in place since last November.
