Senator Le Main and his Assistant Minister Deputy Jackie Hilton met their opposite numbers to pool ideas and discuss each island’s approach to the provision of social housing.
On Thursday Chief Minister Frank Walker told a scrutiny panel that relationships were at a five-year low and the Guernsey’s ministers had refused to meet Jersey’s new Council of Ministers.
Senator Le Main and Deputy Hilton visited a new sheltered housing scheme for the over-55s which is under construction, and toured an estate that is home to more than 200 tenants.
Senator Le Main told the Guernsey Press: ‘All this nonsense about ministers not working together, the islands not working together.
I’ve been the Housing Minister for nearly seven years and in all those we’ve built up a very strong relationship with the Guernsey housing authority and it’s working very well.’
