A proposition has been lodged by Transport and Technical Services this week saying that the land would be a better place to put the energy-from-waste plant than Bellozanne.
The States will now be asked to vote on the issue.
The proposition says that putting the new plant at La Collette, rather that Bellozanne, would be better because it would: Remove heavy traffic from residential areas leading to Bellozanne.
Allow shared infrastructure with the JEC power station, meaning only one large chimney.
Mean easier construction than at Bellozanne.
Mean the plant was located in an industrial area, rather than near residential areas.
Allow the possibility of taking some of Guernsey’s waste because it is close to the Harbour.
