According to new Planning guidance revealed today, towers will be allowed on the controversial site as long as they are of ‘the very best design’.

Under the new guidelines, developers will be able to apply to build as high as they like.

However, the six-storey limit for buildings that do not demonstrate an ‘international level of excellence’ still applies.

The new supplementary planning guidance takes into account months of public consultation and forms the framework for considering applications to build on the waterfront.

And developers are being told by Jersey’s Chief Minister that they will not have to go right back to the drawing board.

‘There is no reason for them to tear up their plans,’ Senator Frank Walker said, after being presented with the document.
