Telecoms firm Cable & Wireless launched their new service last week in both Jersey and Guernsey, in response to customer demand.

C & W have exclusive distribution in the Channel Islands because of their existing links with suppliers worldwide.

They are offering two basic services, one for individuals and small businesses and the other specifically for medium to large businesses.

Both will enable users to connect to their existing e-mail addresses and send and receive e-mails securely without dialling up to a connection, as well as browse the internet.

It will also allow synchronisation of calendars and contacts remotely from a PC or Mac and enable phone calls and text messaging.

Business users will also have the facility of being able to work with corporate e-mail systems such as Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Dom-ino or Novell Groupwise, as well as access the company intranet.
