Mr Skinner left Jersey after selling his business to the Ann Street chain and set up the Skinners Brewery in Truro in 1997.
Last year Skinners swept the board at the Falmouth Beer Festival when it won three categories against competition from some of the national giants and became supreme champion.
In 2005 it also hit its current capacity of 250 barrels a week, and in July and August 2.
million pints of Skinners ales were sold – with Betty Stogs bitter particularly popular.
Now there are plans to upgrade the plant over the next three years.
Mr Skinner said: ‘We’ve increased our sales by something like 50% over the past three or four years, but we are still working with our original tanks, fermenters and main brewing equipment.
The upgrade has become essential if we are to realise our full potential.
