The JDA has issued a statement this morning saying it will continue to campaign on social issues with former Deputy-candidate Steve Pallett at the helm, but there will be no manifesto or party whip.

JDA members Deputies Southern, Judy Martin and Shona Pitman were all elected as independent candidates in November after Deputy Southern and Denise Carroll failed to win Senatorial seats in last year’s poll.

Today’s statement from JDA acting chairman Mr Pallett is the first since the elections were held.

He says it remains open for the JDA to back candidates in the 2008 elections – and says it will campaign on taxation, the waterfront and the new Strategic Plan.

Deputies Southern, Martin and Pitman remain as members of the group, which will hold its agm on 25 May at Fort Regent, when the changes will be discussed.
