Maurice Richard and Tony Lagadu (both CPC) were first and second in the Plate, with Jersey Pétanque Club’s Dennis Le Mercier third, and there was another one-two-three from Carrefour players Mick Cotillard, Mary Whittaker and Lol Thérin in the Consolage.
WHIPPET RACING Six of the best Jetstream, owned by Jenny Thomas, won all six races to pick up the Jersey Pedigree Whippet Racing Club May Handicap Shield and the Candy Memorial Trophy.

ATHLETICS Le Couilliard leads the way Veteran runner Peter Le Couilliard was first across the line in the Andy Coughlan Memorial ten-mile race along the Five Mile Road yesterday.
He beat Dave Ibbotson and Jon Coote into second and third places respectively.

CRICKET There were wins for Romerils and Old Victorians in the opening NatWest Weekend League Premiership matches on Saturday.
Romerils beat St Ouen’s by 137 runs, with man-of-the-match Ryan Driver scoring 144 of their total 294 and taking two wickets for 20.
Mike Waite was also in form, taking 3 for 28.
Caesareans scored 238 in their innings and were still beaten by the OVs.
In Division I there were three wickets apiece for St Ouen’s Reserves’ bowlers Clews, Dunning and Johnson as they beat Romerils Reserves by 38 runs.
