But Katherine Mary Mallet was warned on Monday that it was probably her last chance.

She was told by Relief Magistrate Peter Mourant: ‘If you go on behaving like this, you will have to be removed from circulation for the safety of the public.’ Mallet (41), of de Quetteville Court, who admitted assaulting Pc Anton Cornelissen in Kensington Place on 16 March, resisting arrest and being drunk and disorderly, was sentenced to 90 hours of community service.

A probation order is to continue.

The sentence was the equivalent of three months in prison, which the court said would have been an appropriate punishment for Mallet but one she had avoided because of her family situation.
