And a police constable with three years’ service can expect to earn a basic salary of just under £40,000 a year.
But the force’s chief officer, Graham Power, has indicated that he believes that the pay levels of his officers are ‘probably not quite enough’, although he says that in the present economic climate he will not be pressing for increases.
The basic remuneration for a constable in England and Wales with three years’ service is just over £25,000 a year.
However, Mr Power points out that it is very difficult to make accurate comparisons between the UK and Jersey.
He says that many allowances paid to officers in England and Wales are not paid here.
