In the States yesterday Members passed a proposition brought by Deputy Ben Fox to investigate and tackle the smell that residents say is a nuisance and a blight on their lives.
But following complaints by some Members that the 2012 deadline to sort out the smell was too far off, Members led by Chief Minister Frank Walker said they would do what they could to speed up the process.
‘I can assure the House the issue will be discussed by the Council of Ministers in the shortest possible timescale,’ said Senator Walker, who was originally elected as a Deputy for the area in St Helier No 3.
