The Constable of St Helier, Simon Crowcroft, said that all but one had responded and answers ranged from employees suffering from stinging eyes and blocked noses to having to work with the windows closed during the summer because of the nearby stench.

Two weeks ago a public meeting organised by the Constable allowed residents of Havre des Pas, St Clement and Georgetown to air their views on the site.

Many people at the meeting raised concerns about their health, with most complaining of sinus troubles and breathing difficulties.

Since then Mr Crowcroft has been collating information about the number of people affected by the site and last week sent out around 20 questionnaires.
