Mother’s plea on seatbelts

Tracey Cotillard said that she would be breaking the law if she drove her five-year-old son to school if he was not wearing a seatbelt, and she wants to know why there is a different rule for school coaches.

Mrs Cotillard has enlisted the help of Deputy Shona Pitman, who will ask Education Minister Mike Vibert about his department’s seatbelt policy in the States tomorrow.

Deputy Pitman will ask Senator Vibert what he is going to do about children as young as reception age being driven in coaches without seatbelts, and who would be liable if there was ever to be an accident.
