All buildings, open spaces and landscaping on the site will have to get the approval of Hopkins Architects before Planning consider them.

Headed by Sir Michael Hopkins , the London-based firm is currently working on designs for Dubai Towers and Princeton University’s chemistry building, and is due to complete a $23 million project at Northern Arizona University in January 2007.

The practice was responsible for the new parliamentary building at Westminster, Portcullis House, which opened in 2000, and Evelina Children’s Hospital on London’s South Bank which opened last October.

Environment Minister Freddie Cohen said the firm’s role in Jersey would be ‘to drive the delivery of world-class architecture on the waterfront’ and ensure that all new development matched the aspirations of the supplementary planning guidance.
