How many developments are going ahead? We don’t know, admit Planning

Nearly eight months after concerns were raised about the scale of new development taking place in the western parishes, Planning have yet to collate all the relevant information into an easily accessible format.

Environment Minister Freddie Cohen has now ordered Planning officers to produce information on all new developments taking place in in the Island.

Put on the spot during States questions yesterday by the Constable of St Lawrence, Geoffrey Fisher, Senator Cohen could not say many units of accommodation had been approved, completed or were presently the subject of planning applications since 1 January 2005.
