The Grande Route de St Pierre garage has bought the equipment after ‘growing concerns’ over the number of people not paying.
Two ANPR photographic systems were switched on this week which use infra-red technology to highlight number plates.
Details can then be cross-referenced with another traditional closedcircuit television camera to identify any motorists who fail to pay for petrol.
The petrol station has a small supermarket and car park attached, and after filling with petrol customers are encouraged to park their cars and do some shopping.
After spending time walking around selecting groceries, it is thought that some people forget they have filled their car with petrol and drive off.
