The divisional leaders took 37 points from their 118-run win against bottom-placed Springfield at FB1, Springfield notching up in excess of 200 runs for the first time in two seasons in the top flight.

Sporting Club amassed 326 for four wickets in 43 overs with Justin Le Fort leading the way with an undefeated 89 including a dozen boundaries.

Steve Carlyon and Jason Carpenter put on 151 for the first wicket before Simon Short chipped in with a late 60.

Springfield openers Peter Canham and Suthan put on 83 runs for the first wicket and although always behind the required run rate their 208 for 7 was their best score in the top flight since coming up two seasons ago.

Romerils moved back into second position after they won by 35 runs against St Ouen at Grainville.

Ian Crocker hit 13 boundaries in his 78 helping Romerils to 257 for 4.

Martyn Waite cracked seven 4s and two 6s in registering 56 runs.

Skipper Jamie Brewster and Danny Blasco were the main stays in St Ouen’s reply with Brewster hitting 87 (seven 4s and two 6s) and Blasco 52 including five boundaries.

Caesareans moved up one place to fourth after defeating champions Old Victorians by five wickets at Les Quennevais.

For the winners Dave Buxton hit 59 runs off 95 balls.

Caesareans 2nds replaced Springfield 2nds at the top of Division I after defeating the previous leaders yesterday at FB1.

Caesareans owed much of their success to junior bowlers Richard Blackburn and James Perchard who took four wickets apiece in six-over spells – Perchard for a paltry eight runs.
