The bride, Sarah Jane Cole, and her fiancé Jon Middleton celebrated in a ‘new’ ceremony, with 15 family and friends, in the ‘old’ de Quetteville Library – nearly 70 years after her father and her uncle went to school there.
The couple, who are from Tenterden in Kent, said they wanted to mark the occasion with a special tribute to Sarah Jane’s Island history.
She said: ‘We decided to do it for my father and my uncle, but also because my grandparents lived here until they died.
My grandfather had Coles Radio shop.
I think originally the college got a licence for the Great Hall, but Dad came up with the idea to have the wedding in the library so they reapplied.’
