The minister faced questions from a number of Members about what were described in some cases as protracted internal investigations into the standards of professional conduct of officers which were not criminal matters.
Senator Kinnard said the issues of leadership and professional standards within the force was a major focus of a full independent review currently being carried out by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate.
The review was due to be published at the end of the summer.
‘A preliminary briefing of those findings has given very strong reassurances about the effectiveness of the process in place,’ Senator Kinnard said.
