He said that around 200 young people,some celebrating the end of their exams, met near Longbeach on Friday night.
Although initially they were good-humoured, the evening degenerated, with fighting and assaults.
He said that there had been ‘extreme levels’ of noise, rowdiness, and abusive behaviour at the event.
Ropes and canvas decks had been ripped off boats stored nearby to feed a bonfire on the beach, and hundreds of pounds worth of damage had been caused.
