In what appears to be the worst kept secret in some time, thousands of people received messages warning them about a new unmarked police car equipped with a £24,000 camera to snap speeders.
The e-mail revealed that the car, a grey Volvo, went into action on Wednesday and has already caught several people.
Supt John Pearson has said, however, that use of the new Roads Policing Car was never meant to be a secret.
