Last weekend they beat Brockenhurst Manor 2-1 away to reach the semi-finals for the second time in consecutive years.

With Seb Brown restored to the team after his first year in the United States, the win was sweet revenge, as Brockenhurst elimated La Moye at the semi-final stage last season.

La Moye junior official Graham Bisson said: ‘This group of youngsters are a credit to our club and the Island.

They all work extremely hard on their games and it’s paying off for them with success on the course.

‘Seb has improved so much while he has been away and he certainly impressed.

He won 6 and 5 against one-handicapper Jake Shepherd after being two down after four holes.

He won eight holes on the trot to turn the match around, while also scoring a couple of birdies.

‘Matt Nicolle played well but was beaten 4 and 2 while Kieran Goodricke came from one down to beat Hockley Junior Open champion James Hopper 3 and 2.

It was James’ first ever matchplay defeat and Kieran thoroughly deserved his win after reeling off 14 pars in a row.

‘This trio are very good and if they play to their potential they could become the first La Moye winners since 1997, when Andy Clarke, Myles Jones and Tony Laffoley won the trophy.’ The semi-finals and final will be played at Hockley Golf Club on 25 July against as yet unknown opposition as other quarter-finals are still to be decided.

Josh Ozard, Harry Steel and Chris Young have also represented La Moye this season in the Greenjackets tournament.
