New manager and chef at the Royal Hotel

The 85-room Royal was taken over by the Morvan Hotels Group last October.

Now they have appointed Mark Taylor as general manager and Alun Williams as head chef.

Mr Taylor (39) has wide experience of catering management, including service aboard cruise ships as well as in management at resort hotels in Queensland, Australia.

His most recent job was at the Medehamstede Hotel in Shanklin on the Isle of Wight.

Welsh-born Mr Williams (37) trained at the Hereford Technical College and worked for a year as a sous chef in Rotarua in New Zealand and the Westin Hotel in Sydney.

He has also worked at Le Meridien at Piccadilly Circus and the Chequers Hotel at Newbury.
