Assembly backs skatepark plans

At an assembly attended by around 55 people – 20 of whom were young skateboarders – an in-principle vote was given to the scheme by 29 votes and none against.

If the scheme was agreed by Planning and other necessary authorities and funding obtained, it would be likely to feature a partly sunken facility open to those with skateboards, rollerblades and BMX bikes.

The plan would involve converting the listed building Ferguson’s Folly overlooking the park into some sort of centre for the skateboarders to use.
