States Members voted by 32 to 13 to support a proposal by Transport Minister Guy de Faye that the proposed energy from waste plant be located at La Collette II reclamation site – immediately south of the JEC power station.

On Tuesday, Deputy de Faye agreed to accept an amendment to defer a second proposal to locate the ‘in-vessel’ composting facility at the La Collette II proposed industrial zone.

The States decision on the location of the energy from waste plant now means that companies interested in tendering for components of the plant can accurately prepare their bids.

But despite the big margin of victory after five hours of debate, many Members said they remained unconvinced of the scale of the project being proposed.
