Major road work starts tomorrow

Queen’s Road – the main route into the town centre for people coming from the north of the Island – will close at 9 am and not reopen until 4 pm each day.

The work there is to last for 11 weeks.

A series of diversions will be arranged, mainly bringing traffic out at Cheapside, so drivers are being warned to avoid that area.

The resurfacing work on Queen’s Road will be followed over the next few years with work on Victoria Avenue, Beaumont Hill, Rouge Bouillon, the ring road and Rue des Prés.

The Transport and Technical Services Department said last week that after some capital funding had been secured the projects could now begin.
