TRIATHLON Tanguy finishes on top Paul Tanguy won yesterday’s triathlon at St Catherine’s in 1 hr 8 min 16 sec.

Daniel Halksworth was second, with Doug Gorman third.

The ladies’ race was won by Jenny O’Brien in 1.16.11, with Tracey Huish second.

CRICKET Prep retain Trent Shield Victoria College Prep retained the Trent Shield on Saturday, beating a combined St George’s, Grouville and St James’ side, by seven wickets.

GOLF Hartley hooks top prize Craig Hartley, 44 points off 14 handicap, and Sue Langdon, 36 pts, were the respective men’s and ladies winners of the St Peter’s Golf Society’s Open at Les Mielles on Saturday.

The scratch prize was won by Michael Fitzgerald with a one under par 69.

GOLF Purdie takes the points Stephen Purdie won La Moye GC’s Le Caudey Cup Stableford competition on Saturday with 46 points off a handicap of 18.

He beat Jamie Ellis and Josh Ozard into second and third place, they returned scores of 43 off 14 and 41 off 7 respectively.

BOWLS Boswell on hat-trick Derek Boswell won the Bowls Jersey men’s Island singles championship this weekend for the third year in succession – the first time this competition has been won by the same player on three consecutive occasions.

He beat Mick Baudin 21-18.

Ladies winner was Chris Grimes who beat Tracey O’Connor 21-13.

In the semi-finals juniors Greg Davis and Scott Ruderham were beaten by Boswell and Baudin respectively; in the ladies’ Grimes beat Fay Le Mottée and O’Connor won against Josie Gregory.

GOLF Boon takes Captain’s St Clement GC’s Colin Boon won the Captain’s Invitation Stableford competition on Sunday, at St Clement’s GC, with 40 points after a countback.

He beat past captain John Cosgrove in a very close match with a better back nine.

SAILING Neale and Larose top Grant Neale and Karen Larose won the first RCIYC Hobie Fleet Framing and Art Bay race yesterday in 22 kt winds and 30 kt gusts, in their Hobie 16 Icat.

Gordon Burgis and Kenny Snell were second and Peter Scriven and Yvonne Winspear third.

B fleet winners were Mike and Rachael Smith on their Hobie 15.

ATHLETICS Win for CI men The Channel Islands men’s Southern Athletics Division II League team beat off strong opposition yesterday at the meet in Walton on Thames to win with a score of 136 points.

Newbury finished second with a 108.

GOLF Les Mielles sevens-up Les Mielles GC won the Channel Islands final of the Hampshire Sevens competition at L’Ancresse GC yesterday.

Level at 3-3, Les Mielles’ Julio Moniz birdied the extra hole for victory.
