Parkman had a superb month, winning both the Jersey and Channel Islands championships for the first time.

He beat Gavin O’Neill and Christy McLaughlin on the way to the final of the Jersey Championship at La Moye and then came back from three holes down to beat home club player Brett Allen at the first extra hole.

Parkman then travelled to Guernsey to beat Sarnian champion Nigel Vaudin 7 and 6.

During the month Parkman’s handicap was reduced to scratch.

There were several other excellent contenders: Royal Jersey junior Olivia Higgins retained her CI Ladies championship by beating Sue Wellfair 4 and 2 in Guernsey; La Moye Junior Chris Young played consistently and reduced his handicap from 5.5 to 4.5.

La Moye’s Tony Mauger won his club’s Podmore Trophy; Les Mielles’ Marcello Pinzari won the June Medal with a gross score of 88, with his 25 handicap giving him a net 63.

He reduced his handicap to 20 during the month.

Staying at Les Mielles, Alan Cabot won his club’s Open with a fine score of 71 (net 63) and reduced his handicap to seven, while Michael Holley won the third round of the club’s Elizabeth Bowl with a fantastic score of 74 off 20 handicap for a net 54 – 14 under par!
