Three 16-year-olds who all play off a five handicap, Victoria College pupil Chris Young, Matt Nicolle and Kieran Goodricke (both from Les Quennevais) will each play a junior from Waterlooville over 36 holes in the semi final of the event on Tuesday.

Graham Bisson, the treasurer of the junior golf foundation who will travel with the boys, says that they have real talent.

He said: ‘Our boys are really up for it.

Waterlooville are a decent side, but the fact that all our boys play off five means we have a real chance.’ La Moye beat the Royal Jersey, Jersey Western and Guernsey Junior Golf Club to reach the semi final stage.

The final will be played after the semi final on the same day and, whatever happens, the three Jersey lads will be playing 72 holes as there is a play-off for third place between the losing semi finalists.
