Months of hard work came to a head and there was drama over flower shortages and panics over floats not being ready to roll down Victoria Avenue for today’s big parade.
Grouville lived up to their theme, ‘The Spirit of Carnival’, and pumped up workers by blaring tunes out of a stereo.
The parishioners are famed for their dance displays and designer Nigel Gates said that Battle-goers were in for a treat this year.
‘The organisers are trying to create a carnival atmosphere, so we thought we would enter into the spirit of things,’ he said.
‘It’s been a tough slog but I’m looking forward to the parade.
Fingers crossed, we will have enough flowers and we should be finished in time.’
