A crowd of 16,000 people watched as dancers, entertainers, musicians and floral creations toured the arena.
Entries including Masquerade, Summer Nights, Barcelona, Sun ‘n’ Fun and Spirit of Carnival captured the imagination and created an electric atmosphere at the annual event.
The parish of St Clement were awarded the Prix d’Honneur for their entry Pow Wow, while the Optimists Club took the Prix d’Excellence with their Irish-themed float Off The Rails.
Marcus Davies, who designed the St Clement float , said that he was thrilled by the news.
However, it only came after some confusion following a mistake in the announcement of the results at the end of the parade.
Trinity were initially said to have topped the parish entries, with Grouville and St Saviour taking second and third places and St Clement remaining unplaced.
However, the judges realised their mistake and St Clement were later announced as having won the Grand Prix des Paroisses as well as being the overall winner.
Mr Davies said that the mistake had left some entrants disappointed.
He said: ‘We felt sorry for Trinity.
We thought that we had come fourth and couldn’t believe the mix-up.
We feel sorry for those who thought they won when they hadn’t.’
