The Duchess of Normandy is back in business, this time under its French name – La Duchesse de Normandie – and in the hands of the Jersey Oyster Company.
As the Island looks to improve trade links with France, the company have been licensed to ship goods to and from France, as well as to carry 12 passengers.
Company director Chris Le Masurier said the boat met their needs and meant they were able to ensure mid-week delivery to customers, including the French chain of Casino supermarkets, which sell Jersey-branded oysters.
He said: ‘We bought it about one month ago.
We were struggling to be able to deliver as and when we wanted to our customers in France.
We were looking for a boat that we could carry shellfish in safely.’
