GOLF Osment first past post Peter Osment won the Demi Golf Society’s St Clement’s Shield on Saturday with 39 points from a handicap of 14.

Richard Cornick (13 hp) and Kenny Mitchell (7 hp) were second and third respectively with 35 points each.

SAND RACING West Park winners Elliott Jackson and John Fossey won the Junior Grouville Cup and the Senior Merryfield Cup respectively in Saturday’s JMCLCC event at West Park.

Junior class winners were Adam Harris (65 cc 7-11 yrs), Charley Mills (80 and 85 cc) and Elliott Jackson (50 cc auto).

PETANQUE Carrefour Motoring mêlée In the ladies’ section of the Chris Satchwell School of Motoring Carrefour Pétanque Club doubles mêlée, Joan Le Roy finished top with 3 wins +15, Misako Dickinson was second with 3 +14 and Daphne Therin was third with 2 +11.

In the men’s section Lol Therin was top with 4 wins +26; Keith Lajoie was second with 4 +17 and Bryan Mollet third with 3 +22.

GOLF La Moye Salver Steven Purdie won the La Moye Salver competition on Saturday with a nett score of 70 off his 15 handicap (gross 70).

Gerald Ramsden’s nett 71 (gross 80, hp 9) put him second ahead of Mark Tostevin with 72 (gross 78, hp 6) and Sean Mills, nett 72 (gross 77, hp 5).

TRIATHLON Clements claims top spot Paul Clements came through to win yesterday’s Jersey Triathlon Club’s PedalPower sprint (1,000m swim, 30 km bike, 7 km run) triathlon at St Catherine’s, ahead of two visiting UK athletes.

Nick Saunders was second and Garry Palmer third.

Dan Halksworth made an excellent start in the swim but problems with his bike ended his race.

Tracey Huish was first in the ladies’ section with Laurence Assman second.

SAILING Voodoo Doll flies round-Island Benest and Fellowes’ Voodoo Doll flew round Jersey in 4 hours 16 min 3 sec, on elapsed times, in the British Airways race yesterday, to win the Speedbird Trophy and Class 1.

Class 2 winner was Nick Bailhache on Fillipene.

In the Booker Admin U18s Summer Trophy on Sunday First Tower drew with Grouville 5-5.

GOLF Les Mielles knock ’em out Simon Allchin, Shane Fitzsimons, Jason Quénault, Paul Horgan and Julio Moniz won their matches and Carl Fitzpatrick halved his to see Les Mielles GC to a 5 1/2-1 1/2 win against visiting Alton GC in the Hampshire seven-a-side KO competition at the St Ouen’s Bay course yesterday.

Chris Rayner was beaten in his match.

TUG-OF-WAR St Ouennais pull to seventh St Ouen’s tug-of-war team, representing Jersey, finished seventh out of nine in the 680 kilo class in the national championship in Belfast on Saturday.

Jersey’s points came from a 2-0 defeat of Scotland and draws with both the Northern Ireland A and B team.

England A won the overall competition.

CYCLING Junior is the winner In grim conditions at Les Quennevais yesterday the Caesarean Cycling Club track (handicap) criterium was won by junior Chris Seviour, with Chris Spence second and veteran rider Mike Mitchinson third.

MOUNTAIN BIKES Charity downhill race Michael Boarer won the mountainbike downhill enduro race through the woods at Grève de Lecq yesterday, with veteran Bruce Dingle second.

A total of £700 has already been raised through entries alone, and there will be further money to come, all for Jersey Hospice Care, as all the competitors have also been raising money through sponsorship.
