Call to rescind homes decision

Parishioners in St Clement voted on three proposals for sheltered housing last week and found in favour of a plan to build in fields adjacent to the new development in Rue de Jambart.

The Constable, Derek Gray, said he was prepared to begin discussions with developer Alpine Estates who had proposed a development of sheltered accommodation for rent and open market homes for the over-55s on the site.

But parishioner and Senator Len Norman has organised a meeting at the parish hall next Tuesday, inviting parishioners to rescind their decision.

He said: ‘I believe that of all the rural parishes, St Clement, which is the smallest parish in the Island, has made the greatest contribution to housing the Jersey population and is now significantly overdeveloped.’
