Ms Rantzen is fronting a new BBC series called Old Dogs, New Tricks which is being aired for the first time tomorrow evening and includes an investigation into Elixir of Life, a pills and potions company which used fulfilment firm ODF in Jersey to send out its goods VAT-free.
Goods sent from the Island do not require VAT if they are worth less than £18, and a number of companies have been set up in recent years to cater for the demand from UK firms.
Jason Layton, operations director at ODF, was confronted by Ms Rantzen one Friday in April when he opened the door of the firm’s premises in Rue des Prés premises to be faced by cameras and microphones.
ODF say they have now severed all links with UK-based Elixir of Life, although they were obliged to complete a binding period of notice which finished in July and have kept open an inquiry phone line in case there is any problem with the orders supplied to customers.
Mr Layton said ODF had had nothing to do with the products or claims made on their behalf and were simply sending out the products on behalf of the UK firm.
