TEP do a good job for Jersey students

And up to £1,000 has been paid to each of the small and medium-sized businesses taking part in the scheme run by the Training and Employment Partnership on behalf of Economic Development as an incentive for recruiting the students.

The idea is that the £1,000 will equate to £125 per week for each student working for eight weeks.

The companies had to agree to at least match that amount.

The Jersey undergraduate internship scheme has proved so popular that a proposal was due to be put to the Council of Ministers today to run it for another year in 2007.

The internship project manager from the Training and Employment Partnership, Carla Vidamour, said: ‘I have been thoroughly impressed by the response we received.

Those who gained employment through the scheme have done so through their personal motivation, interest and enthusiasm.’
