Elliot Sheldrake (94) awoke on Monday to find that vandals had attacked his home in La Pouquelaye overnight.

The attack has been reported to the police and Mr Sheldrake says he has not had the paint cleaned off because he wants people to see what has happened.

‘I came down on Monday morning and it was all sprayed,’ he said.

‘I was quite lost when I saw it.

I am quite a good age and am nearly blind.

I thought it was tropical growth overnight.

I could not conceive it was this.’ Mr Sheldrake was the first person to move into the estate when it was completed in 1962 and has never experienced vandalism like this, although he says that he has had difficulties with young people in the area.
