Chilled-out start to festival

Chilled-out acoustic class from headliners The Levellers proved a real highlight at first – but local band Velofax certainly held their own against the big guns.

Though minor sound hitches threatened BBC Radio 1 DJ Edith Bowman’s set, it was a safe bet that everyone went home happy after a superb night and more top-class performances from Sandi Thom and folk sensation Nick Harper – and thousands more will be preparing their wellies for the big festival today, where headliners Snow Patrol, the Editors and James Lavelle look set to sweep the rock by.
