Old town pub to become a café?

The old Commercial Hotel could become a café with offices above and alongside it if an application to demolish the shop next door, Les Touristes, and number 26 Conway Street are given the go-ahead.

In 2004 the Ann Street Group were given approval to turn the pub and surrounding buildings into a café and amusement arcade, but never started the work before selling it on.

The pub’s current owners, Wynbrook (Holdings) Ltd, have dropped the amusement arcade, but have still included a café in their plans for the site.

Their plans for the pub and numbers 26 and 27 Conway Street have been designed by architects Axis Mason.
