The States’ senior lawyer William Bailhache said that six countries who have never asked for assistance in tracing and seizing assets in the Island before have contacted his office already this year.
‘I suppose the fact that we are getting requests from the countries that previously would not ask for assistance is a sign,’ said Mr Bailhache.
‘Although I am not prepared to name them because these matters are dealt with confidentially, we have had letters or requests from six jurisdictions this year which are firsts.
I think may be that is a sign that the reputation is improving.’
