Off to the tower

The event was created by Merton Hotel leisure co-ordinator Pete Webb, who came up with the idea while trying to organise a similar walk for the company’s management.

Many of the staff at the hotel, including owners from the Seymour Group, then decided the novel idea – dubbed the Seymours to Seymour Tower walk – would be a great way of raising funds for the Jersey Coastline Campaign 2006.

Mr Webb said: ‘The walk was not originally planned to be a charity fund-raiser, but as we would be walking on a piece of the Island’s protected coastline, we decided it would be a good idea to use the opportunity and help support some of those parts that are not protected, so it gelled together rather well in that respect.’ The event was then publicised in the hotel and by Saturday afternoon, 27 participants had turned out to help support the cause.

All sections of the Seymour Group were represented, including head office, Portelet, Pomme d’Or and the Merton Hotels, and the event was joined by directors Rita Seymour, David Seymour and Sue Armes.
