Yesterday’s inter-insular matches saw Jersey A beat Guernsey A 11-9 and Jersey B beat Guernsey B 5-4.
GOLF Three-club victory The result of the Demi Golf Society’s 3 Club Competition, played on Saturday, was as follows: 1 Jorge Moniz (7 h’cap), 35 points; 2 David Le Duc (18 h’cap), 35 points; 3 Joe Straiton (12 h’cap), 34 points.
PETANQUE JPC lead the way The first leg of the annual match between the Jersey and Carrefour Pétanque clubs took place yesterday at Les Quennevais with the home club finishing with a four-game advantage, 32-28.
The return match takes place in a fortnight, at the Carrefour’s home terrain.
JPC’s Louie Bowen and Peter Guegan, and CPC’s Mary Whittaker and Robert Birch were undefeated in this first leg of the competition.
MOTOCROSS Top biker The BLF Racing motocross event trophy was won by Elliott Jackson in the Automatics class at Sorel yesterday with Jack Galloway second.
Lee Le Viellez won the 65 cc class with Michael Veloso second and Matthew Rayson third.
HILL CLIMB Peron’s hat-trick Vince Peron won the Jersey Cycling Association Bouley Bay hill climb yesterday, for the third successive year, in 2.08 minutes, more than 11 seconds ahead of second-placed Adam Wojkiewicz.
First veteran to finish was Dave Mayman and first lady was Jim Davis, with Chris Seviour the first junior up the hill.

SWIMMING Scot of the round-Island Dundee resident Colleen Blair is the latest in a growing line of long distance swimmers to complete the round-Jersey challenge.
In excellent conditions yesterday she completed the circumnavigation in 10 hr 10 min 27 sec.
Blair was forced to abandon her initial attempt on Saturday, after 2 hr 15 min in the water, when conditions rapidly deteriorated.
GOLF Park wins Alice Trophy The final of the Les Mielles Golf Club Seniors Knockout Championship was played on Friday between Tom Park and Paul Isham.
Only at the 17th did eight handicapper Park take the lead which he held on, at the 18th, to win the Alice Trophy, 1-up, against 14 h’capper Isham.
PETANQUE Island Triples Dorothy and Gordon de Gruchy and Ken Vibert won the JPA French Imports Island triples competition at Samarès Manor on Saturday.
They beat Robin Stockton, Peter Le Liard and Richard Sowerby in the final.

SHOOTING Delanoe for Le Brocq The Modern and Military Arms Association competed on Saturday for the Delanoe Cup with Richard Le Brocq winning the competition, shot with small calibre .30 M1 carbines, as used by the US troops during and after the Second World War, with a score of 86.
Mike Turner was second with 83 and Gayle Jones third with 81 points.
GOLF Laurent Perrier Open Winner of the ladies’ title was Julie Solway with 49 points off her 32 handicap.
Anne Moon was second with 44 pts off 26 and Wendy Hervé third with 40 ex 17.
In the Junior competition John de Carteret was first with 41 pts off h’cap 24.
Christopher Hervé was second with nett 33 off 24 and Robert McCallum third with 30 off 24.
Philip Smale won the men’s event, 43 pts h’cap 23 and Arthur Boyne was second, 41 pts h’cap 24.
Terry Allen was third, finishing with 39 pts off 11.
SAND RACING Sarnian takes Oldridge Guernsey driver Chris Bougourd won the up to 1600 cc Production car class and, with it, the Oldridge Cup in Saturday’s JMC&LCC sand racing meet.
Jersey rider Kevin Bishop was high-sided off his bike and had to be taken to hospital with a suspected broken collarbone.
Jason Mourant and Jeremy Phillips of Jersey shared the Beach Buggy class win; Denis Le Breton won the Guiton Cup in the adult over 350 cc motorcycle class; Luke Le Moine won the up to 350 cc class; Anthony Bougourd (Gsy) won the 500 cc Sliders class; Mike Ozanne (Gsy) won Class 3.
In the junior classes Rikki Knowlton won the 80/85 cc class; Conor Hamon and Ryan Caurel shared the spoils in the 60/65 cc class; and Jack Clayden won the Automatic 50 cc class.

BADMINTON Jersey trio in action Elizabeth Cann and Solenn Pasturel played in the women’s singles competition of the Belgium Open over the weekend.
Both were beaten by Scotland’s Susan Hughes, who also beat Cann in the play-off for a bronze medal in the Commonwealth Games.
Meanwhile, playing in her first National Elite tournament in Yorkshire, Mariana Agathangelou and doubles partner Gabby White got off to a great start by reaching the semis.
GOLF Ballard wins Medal Danny Ballard won St Clement’s GC Monthly Medal competition with a nett 54 off 15.
