Laura won an in-house charity raffle for the Cancer Research Relay for Life campaign and her prize was an electrifying voyage in a BAC Jet Provost.
She was originally due to fly in the RBC-sponsored T-33 but this crashed on its way to Jersey on Wednesday.
Undeterred she took off in the Provost, flown by Mark Grimshaw, on Friday, a day after the jet trainer had taken part in the air display.
‘I did think twice about flying after the crash but I wasn’t going to turn down this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,’ said Laura, a 22-year-old trust administrator.
‘We flew around the Island twice and it was incredibly smooth, although I could feel the pressure when we turned around St Aubin’s Bay.
I’m a sailor at heart but this has certainly opened my eyes to flying – I saw parts of the Island that I had never seen before.
The RBC raffle raised £1,000 for Relay for Life.
