However, the police have confirmed that a tablet allegedly fed to a pony at the young show jumper of the year competition in St Lawrence last Saturday was the fast-acting sedative ACP.

Blood samples taken from ponies at the event have not yet returned from the States Analayst’s laboratory.

The tests are not expected to be completed until the end of next week.

The doping scandal was sparked when parents complained to officials that they had seen something fall out of a pony’s mouth after Kim Baudains, the mother of one of the competitors, had fed it a mint.

It is alleged that a tablet was found on the ground and it is that tablet which has now been confirmed as being ACP.

Two animals were blood-tested on Saturday and the police took witness statements from people at the young show jumper of the year event.
